Zero impact and Genuine meat

0 impact meat: a new standard of sustainability

Zero-impact meat is a concept that is gaining more and more attention in an era where sustainability has become a crucial priority.

But what exactly does zero impact meat mean?

Simply put, it refers to a production practice that seeks to minimize the environmental impact caused by raising animals for human consumption.

This includes responsible management of natural resources, mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions and an overall reduced ecological footprint.

Zero impact meat is a concept that goes beyond mere food production, representing a commitment to responsible and environmentally friendly farming practices.

This philosophy focuses on the idea that farming and meat production can coexist in harmony with nature, rather than harm it. This perspective has taken on a crucial role in a context in which environmental sensitivity has become a global priority.

Zero-impact meat involves a holistic approach that takes into account various factors, including water use, soil management, climate impact and energy efficiency. Furthermore, it considers the ethics of raising animals, ensuring their well-being and guaranteeing a dignified life.

Transparency and traceability throughout the entire production chain are key elements in ensuring that standards are met and that zero-impact meat achieves the levels of sustainability required to preserve our planet for future generations.

Our challenge towards zero impact from 2021

For several years, we at Carne Genuina have set ourselves the goal of achieving the seemingly titanic feat of zero impact.

What seemed like a distant goal has become a concrete reality with the adoption of sustainable practices and the integration of environmentally friendly technologies into our production facilities.

Our commitment to the environment is not just a requirement, but an ethical imprint that we guide in all phases of our production.

We have developed a number of innovative strategies and practices to reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing process.

Over the last ten years, photovoltaic systems have been implemented on the roof of our estate and on those of the farms we work with.

Installing photovoltaic systems on our roofs was the first in a series of moves aimed at ensuring our energy consumption is as sustainable as possible.

These plants generate enough energy to meet the needs of approximately 150 families, thus offsetting 60% of the carbon dioxide emissions resulting from our livestock activities.

Starting in 2021, we are pleased to announce that our company is increasingly working towards zero - or sub-zero - impact.

Furthermore, to offset the remaining 40% of residual emissions, we have undertaken an initiative for reforestation and rebalancing of emissions, planting 35 Baobabs in Kenya but also in closer locations such as Italy, with partners such as Treedom and Forever Bambù ; a renowned Italian startup specializing in the cultivation of giant bamboo.

Reducing the environmental footprint: the next steps

Reducing water consumption is another fundamental objective of our journey towards sustainability. We are investing resources and efforts in finding solutions that allow us to use water more efficiently and responsibly, thus helping to preserve an essential resource for life itself.

Through these initiatives and many others, we aim to rewrite the rules of the game in the meat production industry, demonstrating that sustainability and quality can coexist.

Our vision is of a future in which the meat we consume is not only delicious, but also ethically and environmentally sustainable.
